The
unrest in the Middle East over the summer was shocking for us to watch
on our televisions!
In situations like this, it's hard to believe that we could make
a difference from where we sit in Canada. However, thanks to the generous
supporters of Feed the Hungry all over the world, we were able to
provide food boxes to over 10,000 people in the city of Akko - just
19 kilometers from the Lebanese border.
This small, ancient city was hit directly with over 200 of the 4,000
rockets the Hezbollah aimed at Israel. Many people were forced to
live in bomb shelters, including children and elderly, and could not
buy food or supplies because all the stores were closed.
Pastor
Guy Cohen of the Harvest of Asher congregation in Akko coordinated
the efforts to purchase food and distribute it. They prepared food
boxes that contained baby food, diapers, sugar, rice, oil, water,
and even diabetic requirements. Below is a video clip of Pastor Cohen
talking with LeSEA Broadcasting correspondent, Brian Bush about the
situation in Israel. Thank you for your generous response to the work
of Feed the Hungry!
