Pakistan Flood Crisis Update | News

September 15, 2010

Feed the Hungry continues to provide resources to the critical situation in Pakistan, through partnership with the Christian Fellowship of Pakistan.  Pastor John Salik wrote this update on September 10, 2010 regarding their progress:

I just returned with my teams (Medical team & Food Outreach team) from the flood affected areas. Thank you so much for your prayers and support. The Lord tremendously blessed us in our outreaches to the flood victims....  This time we provided 300 family packages in Muhammad Pur and Kotla Dewan. Each package included: 22 lbs Wheat Flour, 10 lbs Rice, 10 lbs lentils, Cooking Oil, Milk and Antibacterial Soap.  1500 to 2000 flood victims will have food for almost 2 weeks.  We also provided tents to 30 families whose homes were destroyed.    Our medical team did medical camps in 4 towns (Murghai, Jatoi, Bate Arriayan, and Adda Lal Shah Pir) [treating] about 1800 people including children.  Some children were at the point of death due to Cholera and Malaria but the Lord used our doctors and nurses and they were saved.  The Lord gave us a great favor with the government officials and political leaders in the District of Rajan Pur in South Punjab. The doors are open for us in this district of South Punjab.

Please pray that our witness of Christ’s love may produce fruit unto salvation in the lives of thousands of Muslims to whom we reached out through our relief work. We also face challenges, especially with our ambulance which got stuck in one town and we had to rent a tractor to pull our vehicle out. Please pray that the Lord may provide us with more resources (especially medicine and tents) so that we may continue with our relief work. Thank you!
