On 30 September 2009, a 7.9 magnitude earthquake, followed by a 6.2 magnitude earthquake struck off the coast of West Sumatra Province in Indonesia. The coastal city of Padang, the capital of West Sumatra Province, is amongst the hardest hit areas. Over 520 people are dead, and hundreds are trapped beneath the rubble of collapsed buildings. Heavy rain, power cuts, and landslides hamper rescue efforts as survivors try to come to terms with the devastation.

FTH is working through the Indonesian Relief Fund to provide relief supplies such as water, food, and essential items to the victims of this tragedy.
