FTH Hong Kong’s STOP HUNGER partnership project with Sodexo HK began in April among the International Schools, Corporate clients, International clients and Sodexo staff members. Each group ran a campaign to collect non-perishable food items for distribution among the Nepali community in Hong Kong.

The final result at the end of April was impressive - 1,993 items were non-perishable food items were collected. We were able to prepare 136 bags of food, weighing over 12lb each. The food bag included 3 tins of canned meat, vegetable and beans; 2 kg of rice, 600 gram of cereal, 3 small packets of instant noodles, 1 large packet of rice noodles, 2 packet of biscuits etc.
The distribution was done in conjunction with the YWAM ministry focused on minority groups in Hong Kong, Shanti. Shanti volunteers sent out leaflets to the Nepali residents to invite them to come on Saturday 29 May 2010 for some games, fun sharing, dancing and music and to take home a packet of food. They even put out a banner to invite people to come to Kam Kwong Nepali Christian Church.

On 29 May 2010, 4 from Feed the Hungry and 8 from Sodexo came together and travelled to Kam Tin. They were entertained and welcomed by the Nepali children, who were so excited to see visitors.
Despite the yellow thunder storm warning posted by late afternoon, spirits weren’t dampened by the huge down pour of rain. We never saw so many happy smiles before. It was a happy occasion!
